Theo's Birthday

Today was Theo's 15th birthday. It wasn't a happy birthday though because this morning Honey, our pet rat, died.

I had an inckling a few weeks ago that she wouldn't be with us much longer so I tried to prepare the children for it but they were still very upset. Theo took it especially hard because he hadn't picked her up last night.

Her cage was in the hallway and whenever someone walked past she'd rush over to see them. Normally we'd stop and talk to her or get her out and give her a cuddle but last night Theo didn't pick her up so now he feels guilty.

We've had lots of pets over the years but there was something special about Honey. We didn't have her long but she brought us a lot of happiness and we're going to miss her.

Fun at the beach

We all met at the beach this week. We were going to do some art but the children were having so much fun playing we decided to leave them to it.

We had two new families come this week which was really nice and it turns out Levi already knows one of the boys from camp a few weeks ago (and people think home educated children are isolated?)

I would just like to point out that, although it may look like it, Theo was not about to hit anyone over the head with that spade.

Whenever we go to the beach Levi wants to spend the whole time digging holes.

Theo brought his guitar and was most pleased when John gave him some pointers on how to play sweet child of mine by Guns and Roses.
